Londonderry HS Boys Basketball will follow all rules in the Londonderry student handbook available online. This handbook will not be written out in detail in this document, so it is expected that all players/parents read the handbook on their own time and familiarize themselves with the guidelines to ensure they are followed.
Overarching Program Rules
- Be a Good Teammate – At all times, on and off the court, you must support your teammates and represent your program in a positive role.
- Be on Time – Players should be ready to go by the start of all team events. Be at least 5 minutes early to every event.
Failure to meet these two overarching rules may result in reduction in playing time or further discipline if necessary such as sitting out a practice or game.
Absences
Unexcused absences are not allowed. If a player misses school with an unexcused absence, they are not eligible to participate the same night. If a player is in school and has an unexcused absence for a team practice or game, they will not be able to participate in the following game. If a player is going to miss a practice or a game, they are expected to email their head coach as soon as they can.
Players are not allowed to miss school team practices and games for another club sport. This is a three week suspension per the NHIAA.
Grades
Players are subject to random grade checks by their head coaches to ensure that they are staying above the requirements to play basketball at Londonderry HS, per Londonderry HS guidelines.
Playing Time
Playing time at the Varsity and Junior Varsity level is not guaranteed and will fluctuate game to game based on player performance, player behavior, team needs, and coaching decisions. Freshmen team players are guaranteed a minimum of 5 minutes per game, each game. Players need to be prepared for their role regardless of the number of minutes they are given. Missed practices and behavior issues will result in a reduction of minutes at all levels.
Dress Code
Players must wear their practice jersey to each practice. It’s expected that you maintain the cleanliness of your jersey week to week.
Players are not allowed to wear jewelry (earrings, necklaces, rings, etc.) during practices or games.
Players may wear Londonderry hoodies/shirts and plain sweatpants/khakis to games (preferably Londonderry Basketball). If a player does not have Londonderry gear, they may wear a plain (small or no logo only) hoodie/sweatpants or khakis as long as it is royal blue or black. Our goal is to look like a team. If a player is not dressing for a game they must wear khakis and a sweatshirt (Londonderry or no logo).
Pajama pants, sandals, slippers, logo shirts, etc. are not allowed on game day.
Players are expected to wash uniforms after every game and will return all team issued gear at the end of the season.
Player Behavior
We have a zero tolerance policy for poor sportsmanship or bad behavior. Players should develop a WE over ME culture, supporting all teammates and coaches while representing the program on and off the court at all times. Coaches reserve the right to bench players for behaviors that are detrimental to the program’s goals and growth.
Buses, Benches, Locker Rooms
Always leave a place cleaner than you found it. We are to not leave any trash behind on a bus, on a team bench, or opposing locker room. Every practice each piece of trash must be picked up.
Social Media
Do not participate in any social media or group chat that leads to disrespecting the program/players, as well as opposing programs/players. This includes Snapchats, Instagram, Stories, and group text chats. We have zero tolerance for social media bullying or harassment. Any Londonderry players who feel they are being bullied or harassed should reach out to their head coach.
